In November, 48 of our students traveled to Pittburgh (actually Cranberry) PA. for Master Zang’s Invitational Tournament. Most importantly, a good time was had by all. However, in addition to an awesome experience, we brought home just under 100 awards ranging from 3rd Place to Grand Champion to “Most Spirited and Supportive School”.
For many, this was their first “travel” tournament. Students got to compete against martial artists from many different discipines. Master Gorino couldn’t be more proud and said, “Our students held themselves with pride and class. Everyone at the event made it a point to come to me and tell me what wonderful people I have at our Dojang…even other competitors!” Whether someone scored a participation medal or 1st place, SaBum-Nim is very proud of EVERYONE, including family members. Mention should be made of So-Yun Raquel Feliz who earned Grand Champion in Forms. So if you have any question about today’s teenagers, Raquel proves they are a force to be reckoned with. Sam-Dan Kelly Miller earned Grand Champion in Womens Fighting. This was no easy task as she had to defeat fighters in all age and weight divisions. This proves that even at 40+ years, Tae Kwon-Do keeps you young.
In keeping with our school’s mission, we should all be proud of our fellow students as they were respectful, competed hard and were gracious whether they won or lost. Yes, they were true “Pil-Sung” martial artists. PIL-SUNG!
