Master Gorino’s Tae Kwon-Do Students Go “BIG” at Karate/Martial Arts Tournament!

On Friday and Saturday (1/28 &1/29), Master Gorino’s students competed in the PKC National Tournament in Erie, Pa. The martial art tournament was hosted by PKC Director, Master John Barton. The event included practitioners from Karate, Tae Kwon-Do, Kung Fu, Mixed Martial Artists and other forms of fighting arts. The 2 day event was held at the beautiful Avalon Hotel and was a huge success for Master Barton as well as Master Gorino’s students. Events were held in Kata (Forms), Kumite (Fighting), Self-Defense and Weapons. Nine of our students made the trek to Erie and they returned with 15 awards including many 1st Places.
Although Master Gorino does not judge the worth of his students or Dojang by how well they do at tournaments, he does enjoy the competition and camaraderie developed by tournament participation. “Aside from bringing home many trophies, my students and I were able to see old friends and make new ones, thereby strengthen our martial art experience ten-fold”, says Master Gorino.
We are all proud of how well our students did but more so of how they held themselves as great martial artists and ambassadors of good will for our Dojang. Pil-Sung!
