The Importance of Posture

The Importance of Posture

I can judge a person’s confidence level by their posture. How a person sits in a chair, or how they walk down the street will give me signals about their attitude.

Your posture directly relates to your attitude. People with a bad posture typically have a weak attitude, where as a strong attitude comes from having a good posture. And, with a minor adjustment to your posture, you can completely change your overall attitude and confidence level.

When you slouch, you’re imploding your energy right out of you. Your chest comes in, your guts go out, and your vitality is forced out of you and drains from places you don’t even want to know about.

It’s all in the head…literally!

Sitting up straight forces you to raise your head. When your head is raised, you will look up versus down. Looking up and standing tall is how you develop a stronger attitude. People will interact with you differently because your energy is up high in your chest, shoulders, and head.

When I speak with Grand Master Park on the telephone, I don’t sit hunched over at my desk. I stand tall in order to have the best possible attitude.

Think about giving a presentation. If you’re slouching forward, you’re looking down. Your guts sag inside of you. You’re not exciting. The audience is bored. Nobody’s listening to you. You lose confidence in your teaching and you lose confidence in yourself.

Everything is a habit. Excellence is a habit. Self-discipline is a habit. Attitude is a habit. And maintaining a good posture is a habit.

So pay attention to other people. Just by witnessing others posture will help you correct yours. Stand straighter and hold your head high, and see how your confidence and overall attitude will soar.
