Tae Kwon-Do is a total mind and body experience. When you immerse yourself into the art, there is no better way to keep your body healthy. To be healthy isn’t about being skinny. It’s not about running faster or the ability to bench press 200 pounds. Like any good athlete, Tae Kwon-Do incorporates all aspects of a healthy lifestyle.
Encourage a healthy lifestyle
For example, Tae Kwon-Do is aerobic. Our training will build-up your endurance and get your heart pumping. Knowing how to breath properly is key. Anyone can have you run around doing sit-ups and push-ups, but we teach you how to breath properly during exercise. Breathing properly is vital to oxygenate your blood and create lean, flexible muscles.
Tae Kwon-Do also builds anaerobic or explosive power. The ability to generate speed in a short amount of time will help develop your twitch muscles. This is key to our self-defense training.
You’ll find your optimum body weight and mass with our training. Tae Kwon-Do doesn’t build round, big muscles, it creates long, fast muscles. We stretch those muscles to keep your body relaxed, because being relaxed is also part of being healthy.
Develop a healthy attitude
People who study Tae Kwon-Do naturally develop healthy attitudes. They’ll take the stairs instead of the elevator. They’ll lift their foot up to tie their shoe versus bending over. An incredible self-confidence is built in the mind. You’ll want to get up and move, not because you have to, but because it feels good. As Tae Kwon-Do builds a positive attitude towards your life, body, and self-image, you just start doing positive things to enhance it.
Form healthier eating habits
You’ll want to eat better. Personally, I love Korean food. Lean protein with very little grease and frying, and a lot of spices. Something like Kimchi, a fermented cabbage dish. Granted, it might be an acquired taste, but very filling and healthy.
Good for your health
Have you ever noticed that people who study martial arts tend to live longer? My instructor is 75 years old and sharp as a tack. He keeps up an incredible pace, trains everyday, and is the epitome of health.
Physical exercise, training of the mind, eating healthy, doing more throughout the day, positive attitude…this is all why Tae Kwon-Do is good for your health. I’ve done all types of sports: basketball, baseball, etc. Nothing will keep you healthier than practicing Tae Kwon-Do.
