Unlike other schools who just hand you a white belt when you walk in the door, we actually make you earn it. Not only will you have fun earning your first Tae Kwon-Do belt, but you’ll be surprised how doable it is.
Every class we’ll review what we’ve worked on and then introduce new material. We’ll work with mitts and shields, focusing on power and technique. We’ll develop self-defense techniques with and without partners. We keep it simple so they’re effective and they’ll work.
The Leap Frog Method
I like to call my training the leap frog method. We learn a little bit to move forward, but then take a couple steps back and review, review, review. Learn another new technique and then go back to review. We’re laying down the building blocks, the fundamentals, so that things become second nature to you.
Training will be intense. You’re going to sweat. We’ll get your heart rate up and focus on breathing to oxygenate your blood. Obviously, martial arts involves being in good physical health and that’s what we do. And I promise, you’ll have fun doing it. We’re serious about our training, yet keep the mood light and make it fun.
As each week progresses, we constantly review and slowly incorporate new techniques and patterns. There’s a lot of repetition to develop proper muscle memory. The goal is to execute the technique without your thought process getting in the way.
Testing for Your Belts
In about the 5th week you’ll test for your white belt. We over prepare you for the test. You’ll be ready, I promise. We’ll never put you in a position to fail.
Before you know it, you’ll be testing for your yellow stripe belt. Many people come in thinking they can’t do martial arts and after just a couple months their eyes light up and they’re hooked. Most people agree it is a lot more fun and doable than they thought.
You may not think you’re capable of getting a black belt, but I’m here to show you can.
