What does it mean to “become?”
I have been thinking about that word a lot lately. To me, “becoming” is what you call it when you awaken something deep within yourself that has always been there.
Even though we often have much to be proud of, there’s always a part of us inside that says “I’d like to become a little bit tougher, to protect myself and my family better. I’d like to feel a little bit better about myself and have more self confidence in public,” and so on.
These desires live in us all, and Tae Kwon-Do can help us become the people we want to be. By becoming a black belt, you attain amazing amounts of confidence, discipline, strength, and spirit.
It’s almost magical. People often ask: “How do you do it?” And I respond: “I don’t. Tae Kwon-Do does it. I’m just the messenger. The vehicle, so to speak.”
People that want to be more comfortable in social settings, now can be because they hold their head up high. They can hold a conversation, and they’re proud of themselves. They no longer become jealous of others’ success. They can say to themselves: “Hey! I’m a black belt!”
You also find that when you develop your self confidence through Tae Kwon-Do, you gain the respect and admiration of others as well.
I have seen it in my own life. I will often find myself at parties or events and my friends and colleagues are very excited to introduce people to me. I am always humbled that people hold me in such high regard. They’re proud to know me.
I attribute that to what Tae Kwon-Do has done for me. And at our school, we can do it for you as well.
Whatever that thing is deep down inside you that you want to become, we’re going to bring it out of you. And it’s going to be fun, it’s going to be exciting, the results are going to be invigorating, and sometimes surprising.
I can’t tell you how many people came in here with their head down, teary-eyed, and are now some of my best instructors.
It was already in there. We just helped them bring it out.
