February 19th marked the date of this year’s Annual School Banquet and Awards Ceremony. Although we offer many events and “happenings” at the dojang, the banquet is possibly my favorite. It is wonderful to see our students, family members and friends dressed “to the nines” and enjoy a relaxing evening of good food and good people.
From the very beginning, the evening went smoothly. People began arriving and were mingling, making friends and sharing some laughs…no doubt enjoying some dojang stories. Soon afterward G-Force put on a demo that was superb. (Way to go G-Force!) Their performance was followed by an excellent dinner and dessert.
Also, awards were handed out for categories such as “Being as Awesome Student” up to East Coast Champion and Student of the Year. I am always happy to see many new faces joint the ranks of awardees, as this means that not only are growing as a martial art school, but individual students are beginning to reach their potential.
There was also a surprise (at least for me it was a surprise.) Some of our little ones got up and gave mini-testimonials. That was FANTASTIC! Mega-thanks to our pee-wees!
We also had a guest from the Karate world… Shihan (Master) Bill Adams. It is always great to see him. He owns Master Adams Martial Art and Fitness Center and his school is our sister school in the PMAEA (Professional Martial Art Educators Association).
So look for next year’s banquet and spread the word… FUN, FOOD, FAMILY, FRIENDS AND A FANTASTIC TIME!
I would like to conclude by saying that seeing everyone at an event like this warms my heart, knowing I am surrounded by such wonderful people. Pil-Sung!
